There is a great difference between what most people think about social nakedness and actual practice. Among the few peer-reviewed scientific studies of nudists is one from Marilyn Story, Ph.D. [The Journal of Sex Research, Vol. 23, No. 2, (May 1987), pp. 197-211]
This interesting study showed:
This study was done by established scientific methods, but it is
only one study. We need further studies to see if, for example,
being unable to adequately see the opposite sex naked as a child
has a bearing on later adult addiction to pornography. Does
sneaking to "play doctor" create a pattern that later results in
adults sneaking around to have sexual affairs? Does hiding the
body of the opposite sex to pre-schoolers have a bearing on the
later development of homosexuality? Do boys who routinely see
their mother and sisters naked, or girls at a nudist club, learn
sexual self control that they later apply to the girls they date?
What correlation might there be between being unable to interact
naturally with other naked children have on the demand for
so-called "adult clubs" with nude dancers? What relationship is
there between lack of childhood nakedness and rape, incest,
voyeurism and exhibitionism?
